1_Dialogue Choices
Overview
Dialogue choices allow the player to influence character relationships, interactions within a storyline, and alter long term consequences of the arc. Dialogue choices appear during conversations, cutscenes, and interactive story moments.
Dialogue impacts the player's score at the end of Story Mode. Dialogue can impact the following score values:
- Global Score
- Character Score
- Personal Score
Choice Types
When dialogue choices appear, the player will select between 2–4 options. Each option affects score differently and can alter the direction or tone of the scene.
String Choices
String choices are direct written lines of dialogue. The player's selected line is inserted directly into the scene.
Example Choices:
- "Do you think he will let that one slide?"
- "Oh, just wonderful, great work!"
- "I don't like it when you call me that."
Action Choices
Action choices represent the player’s emotional, physical, or expressive response. Instead of showing a line of dialogue, these appear in [brackets] and trigger narrator described actions or non verbal responses.
Example Actions:
- [Respond Calmly]
- [Pretend]
- [Feign Innocence]
- [Attack]
- [Shit pants] (i had to)
Consequence Choices
Consequence Choices are conditional options that appear only when their prerequisites are met. These represent major narrative turning points and have the strongest influence on the storyline and score. When available, Consequence Choices appear as blue options.
Consequence Choices can:
- Fail or complete quests (Character Arcs only)
- Cause large score changes
- Alter world state or event order
- Trigger new story branches
- Open or close character route content
Conditions
A Consequence Choice may require:
- A minimum Global Score
- A minimum Character Score
- A previous specific dialogue choice
- Completion or failure of a prior task
- Possessing (or lacking) certain knowledge
- Passing a hidden personality flag test
Null Choice
If the player does not meet the condition, the option is replaced with [...] to indicate a null choice. Selecting a null choice will randomly select one of the valid choice options.
