Background

Juno was raised as the only child of Martha and David Blackthorn, owners of the longstanding Blackthorn Grain Farm. She was originally expected to take over the farm, a path she felt comfortable with, until her father, recognizing her talent with computers, encouraged her to pursue something more financially stable. That led her to study computer science and software engineering in college.

While in school, Juno became close friends with her dorm roomate Iris Holloway, who introduced her to her own small group of friends: Luca, Chloe, and others who weren't as close and merely there for the event, not the people. Outside of that group, she had Adrian, a young rat who was just as nerdy as her and loved computers just as much as he loved her. Through them, she discovered a thrill in street racing, something that quickly became a passion. But everything changed after a devastating hydroplane crash during a late-night run. The accident left her with a prosthetic leg, and the emotional aftermath pushed her to drop out of school, to give up everything she used to enjoy, and just retreat to a quiet life with Iris, who now had to take on the burden of Juno's handicap. While they attended school in Timbermaw's capital of Ashvale, Malsburrow was much quieter, cheaper, and the easiest way for them to escape the reality of what had happened that night.

Personality

Juno is quiet, thoughtful, and emotionally guarded. Though she once carried wild, bold, and adventurous spark, much of that fire has been dimmed by grief, trauma, and isolation. She often hides behind dry wit and half-truths, uncomfortable with sympathy and resistant to being seen as broken. Deep down, Juno craves connection, but fears being a burden or losing control of her life again.

Skills/Interests

Motivations

Juno is driven by a desire to reclaim a sense of self-worth. To feel like more than what was taken from her. She’s torn between two worlds: the one where she rediscovers her past passions and faces her trauma head-on, and the one where she walks away from it all to rebuild herself on her own terms. At the heart of it all is her need to break free from Adrian’s influence, which still lingers like a shadow over every decision she makes.

Conflict

Juno’s central internal conflict lies in her struggle with identity and self-image. Her accident didn’t just take her leg, it fractured her confidence, her independence, and her sense of control. Adrian, once a close friend, now exerts a toxic hold on her life, manipulating her through emotional dependency disguised as care.

Externally, she must navigate the growing tension between herself, Adrian, and the people trying to help her—including Noah—who has begun to chip away at the emotional walls she’s built. Juno must decide whether she’ll keep retreating from who she used to be, or fight to become someone stronger. Someone new.
